SES light flickering and E 32 shows up on Scanmaster

Hi All,

I was driving around and the SES light came on but flickering. Along with that Scanmaster showed an "E" in the parameter field and then a "32" in the value field.

I thought it was a faulty O2 sensor, since I also saw that O2 volts never dropped below 600 or so.

Swapping the O2 helped in that area, and powerlogger is showing good cross counts but it didn't solve the flicker SES light or the E 32.

What does this mean?

Usually a rapid flashing SES light means the chip is bad or a bad connection in the chip socket. I don't know on the E 32, but I suspect the ECM is now sending bad data to the Scanmaster.

Further debug and I found the culprit for the flickering SES light.

I had parameter 15 (Shift light) set for 000, I set it for 255 and the flickering went away. Actually any reasonable number above 1 worked. What confuses me is that I thought a "000" meant it was disabled. Not a huge deal as I will now use it as intended.

But that didn't address the E 32 showing up on the scanmaster.

Car runs great, pulls hard, when I make changes to any of the parameters or settings the car reacts to them so everything else seems perfect to me, except that message.

So far it seems safe to ignore.........?????

That might be ethanol content. Does it show any ethanol content in powerlogger? If you want, send me a log.

Ethanol content shows "0" and I do not have Flexfuel enabled (Options is set to "0").

Log attached. I am actually chasing down a few gremlins.

In this log, it shows the car at idle. I have been chasing a TPS problem where after setting it to .40 and drive it, the setting will go to some ridiculous number like .58-.60 and the RPM would be 2000.

In the attached logged, the TPS is at .46 but the RPM is about 1200 and the AFR is about 11-ish. the yellow box also stays in box 5 even though it is in park.

Electrically the car is not great and needs some cleaning up but nothing that I think is so bad that could cause this. I pulled and cleaned the throttle body and IAC passages.

When I get the car to behave where the TPS is steady, it runs perfect but take if for a drive cruising is correct but then i do a WOT blast and come back, then it goes haywire.

The jumping TPS is leading me to think the reference voltage is off. I put it away last night to think about it but the ref voltage and the ground is what I will check next.

Alternator voltage again isn't great but stable enough (I think).

Anyway, this sidetracked this thread but I will take any ideas at this point......
