SD Instructions and Powerlogger links (old SD chip, not SD2)

Trying to keep all this stuff in one spot. I also added more info and fixed some things in the SD instructions based on user feedback.

Here is the latest instructions for the SD chip, which is now version "S" (July 2010): https://www.turbotweaksupport.com/files/turbotweaksds.pdf

If your SD chip was made before July 2010 and you need instructions, please contact me. I would rather we update your chip to the newest one.

You can download the powerlogger update from the Powerlogger section of this forum.

You replace your old PLC.exe with this new one. Flash the Powerlogger with the new PL025.S19 file. This is mainly for support of the newer "AEM Inline" wideband.

Also, here is a link from Steve Wood's site on how to connect the MAP sensor so that it is getting its 5 volt supply from the ECM, instead of from the dash like the stock setup. The dash 5 volt supply can be inconsistent, and it's better to get it from the ECM. http://www.vortexbuicks-etc.com/PowerLogger.htm

Let me know if there are any questions!

86 GN with bad MAF. Interested in knowing if your SD will replace and what involved as well as any other alternatives.

The SD chip is made to run with no MAF. It uses a MAP sensor to calculate airflow. It is mainly geared towards racers and people who are experienced with tuning.

Bad MAF

Am contemplating adding alcohol injection with your alcohol chip on bascially stock 86 GN. Will the stock injectors be sufficient or do I need to upgrade as well? Not a race car just want to significantly increase performance. Any recommendations on alcohol kits ie SMC/Razor/Snow? With these mods any other comments on dealing with the bad MAF or just replace it (again).

Stock injectors will work as long as they are working right, if you're using stock turbo, etc.

The Alkycontrol kit is good (Razor).

I would put a Translator and 3" LT1 MAF on it (get those from Fullthrottlespeed.com).

Updated Powerlogger software link in 1st post to version 1.3.22 of PLC.exe. This version adds some small enhancements to the Powerlogger software.

Eric: My version is 1.3.3.

Did I miss out on some upgrades or is 1.3.22 a typo?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Bob did a bunch of experimental versions and it's currently at 1.3.22. This won't affect the way the car runs. It just adds some things to the software for logging and such.

Updated Powerlogger software to 1.3.28. Mainly small things added for logging.

Also added link for latest SD chip instructions, which is version "S". Added 2 more adjustments: idle A/F, and an AE (tip-in) adjustment. Also made some changes to try to improve a situation where the chip reloads the defaults when it thinks the Powerlogger has lost the settings.

This is the lastest required for the SD chip. For the 5.7 and 6.1 chips, you'll need version 1.4, in the Powerlogger section of the board.
