AEM WB reading is off

Back for more Eric. I had this problem before, but never had time to track down and answer. My AEM WB Gauge reads at least a full point less than the SM and PL readings. I have the AEM 0/5 selected in the PL, and have also tried all of the other settings to see if I could get them to match up.

This is an example of the readings. Gauge=12.9 SM and PL=14.0-14.4 Obviously they are continually jumping around.

I'm using the 6.1 WB chip, and I want to make sure that it is using the WB corrections with an accurate WB reading.

I tried adjusting it though the Analog # in the config page, but I can't get any numbers to type in there.

Thanks again, Cory

The most important thing is grounding. Where do you have the gauge grounded now?

Eric, I am still working on this issue. I thought I had it close, but after last night I noticed it is still off by .5-.7 almost all of the time. I have a ground point set up under the dash with the WB ground, body found, engine ground, and the #6 terminal of the PL all connected. I figured the #6 port would be about the same as the case of the ECM. Is there anything else I can try to get these calibrated together better?

Yes, if you've exhausted all the grounding options, then use a correction factor in the powerlogger software. You can add or subtract voltage. Put a minus sign in front of the number if you need to subtract.

By the way, do not connect the ground terminal on the powerlogger input board to any ground. That is only to connect a specific analog ground from a device.

Also, connecting all those grounds together is not the best way either, as they can affect each other.

In any case, you can correct it using the offset above.
