Scan master display

Hello
I've had my scan master and powerlogger with plx wideband connected approx 3 years with no issues

But recently I noticed that the display on the scan master was reading all 888888 across and the scan master was staying on and running the battery down.

So I disconnected the red wire that is connected to key on to keep from running the battery down until I could check the connections.

When I went back a month or so later and reconnected the red wire the scan master will not come. I've rechecked all the connections. Red to power. Black to a good ground and white to wide band block. All the connections are good and secure. So I took the scan master apart to examine and everything looks good. I have power and ground inside of the unit. All of the pins on the chip are straight and making a good connection.
One thing I noticed is that if I take the chip out and just barely line the prongs up the unit will come on but still just display all 8s. If I push the chip in it goes blank again.

Any ideas. Thanks

If you connect power, does it just stay blank, or does it display anything at all (or just all 8's) for a couple seconds, then turn off?

If I apply power nothing happens at all.
The only time it shows anything is when I take the chip out and barely let it sit on the prongs and while it is just barely touching the prongs it will display all 8's.
If I push the chip down to seat it the display goes blank

Sounds like it may need to be looked at. You can send it in to me if you want.

The main chip was bad. This was an old 2.0 version. I assume you did not have it connected to your powerlogger? Do you still have the 2.2 chip that came with the powerlogger?

Yes I had it connected to powerlogger
When I got the powerlogger I received the new chip that's in the scan master and installed it
It worked fine for about two years then started acting up

Please pm me how much a new chip or whatever I need to get back on the road please

A replacement chip is $20 plus shipping.
I assume you want the 2.2 chip as the replacement. The chip that was in your scanmaster had version 2.0 written on it.
I can send you a paypal invoice if you want. If that's ok, send me your paypal account email.
