Flashing PL to latest version not compatible?

After the last few years making no changes I finally decided it was time to ditch the old windows XP laptop with a 30 min battery life and start using my windows 10 laptop with the car. I followed the driver install instructions from this site and that went smoothly. Everything appeared to be working. At key on the scanmaster read SM 2.2 and PL 3.0. It remained on and I could monitor with the PL.

Then I figured it would be a good idea to flash the PL to the latest version with the PL052.s19 file. It appeared to take OK according to the completion window on my laptop, but then the SM began flickering. I exited the PL, keyed the car off, and disconnected everything. Now at key on the SM comes on , says 2.2, but then it says PL with a bunch of random numbers like 20.6, 9.0, 5.2 etc. Then the SM shuts off and won't come back on.

Any ideas what the heck is going on? The ecm has remained in the kick panel case with the usb cable connected this entire summer. I drove the car yesterday before this update and it ran as good as ever.

One last check before calling it a night. Using the win XP machine to load PL030.s19 brought it back to where it was. SM now says 2.2 and PL 3.0 and it stays on. So, what's the compatibility issue I'm facing here? I'd like to have everything as updated as possible. Thanks.

The newest version of PLC has an option for the scanmaster G gauge. Go into the PLC software and make sure Scanmaster G is not checked in the scanmaster options.
