Data going corrupt. Directscan or ME-R?

I have had a few issues lately with my ME-R. I noticed the car idling badly, tip etc. I hooked up the laptop, most values were at 255 in the blm tables for some reason. I pulled power to the ecm, back to normal. Fast forward to last weekend. I was driving the car home and the SES light would flash on the dash cutting the car out (like crank sensor or something). Finally the car just quit on the highway. Hooked up the laptop again, all values that were in there were gone, and they were all back to defaults now. Fired up the car, drove 50 miles, no more SES, and no stored codes at all.
Can anyone shed any light on this? I have had Directscan (shielded cable) for a few years now, no issues...)

Was the SES light flashing rapidly when it came on?

You could try removing the chip from the ECM and re-tensioning the tangs down in the ECM socket. Use a needle and bend them out slightly to make better contact with the chip.

No the SES light would blink quickly, but not in a series or anything. What about a flaky ecm power connection? That would make sense why no codes were stored and it is at default right?
The chip was not put in there too long ago and I am sure it is making good contact. I will check though just to be safe.
