AM Radio Interference Elimination

I frequently listen to AM radio stations broadcasting from 100+ miles away (540 Orlando, 850 Fort Lauderdale, 610 Miami). The PL/Scanmaster combo is producing some interference. I suspect that most of the interference is coming from the 3 unshielded wires leading from the PowerLogger connection board to the scanmaster. But while I'm changing to a shielded cable there, I'd also like to change to a shorter mini-DIN cable to physically clean up the wiring behind the glove box a little. A 3 foot cable would probably work.

Is the PowerLogger mini-DIN cable a cross-over or straight through type? Is it an 8 pin?

Thanks for the info. Bob Crow, Port St Lucie, FL

Thank you TurboBob. Perfect.

Although it may sound silly to try to receive stations that far away, 50,000 watt stations travel pretty far down here in Florida. My other cars pick up those stations pretty reliably. Half the time, the PL interference isn't enough to stop them even now. So with a little attention to detail, I should be in good shape.

is the EMI worse with the USB plugged in? There are USB cables with ferrite beads to filter that. the same sort of ferrite might help with the DIN cable.

Hi TurboBob. I regret that this is such a busy time of the year (plus some stormy weather), so have not been able to do much with the GN. When I get some free time, I will definitely do those checks and let you know what I find.
